Storytelling for Impact
This is an active-learning lecture in which participants learn the elements of a story and basic story-writing techniques. Participants have the chance to practice what they learned in a piece-by-piece fashion in a welcoming, learning environment.
This class teaches the basics of visual storytelling, We cover the basic elements of story and storyboarding. We also cover visual storytelling and basic video editing. Participants have the chance to practice what they learn and develop a short, edited film project.
Participants learn the basics of podcasting, including recording, editing, and publishing. Once they learn the basics, they get to create a recording of their own in a safe, step-by-step process.
Learn from the circumstances of real challenges faced by impact organizations
A firm that’s dominant in the regional fishing industry deals with declining catches and looks at opportunities to change its approach.
A food product manufacturer looks for opportunities in their wastes.
A firm tries to do good. but misses the mark. A new manager needs to learn from the existing challenges and plot a new path forward.
A boutique hotel’s customers learn that they weren’t living up to their green messaging. How should they respond?
This case looks at a fictional Andaman island that’s split between a large resort and a local community dealing with growing challenges, including ocean plastics and climate change.
